The world of fashion moves quickly and so do the great minds that advertise for it. These days it’s not enough to be on the run ways, red carpets, and in the trade magazines. The key to good fashion is to be on the minds and eyes of the consumer at all times. This is why movies and television have been playing such an important role in the fashion industry and will continue to for some time.

With the eyes of 6 million people every week on popular television shows, more and more fashion companies are looking to have their style put onto that television show. It’s no longer a costume artist picking out clothes that the character would wear, but rather picking out clothes that the studio has a deal with and making them work for the character. It’s doesn’t seem like it provides a ton of direct advertising but these people are smart and the plan work. Here’s a look at how they pull this off.

Designer X has a line of stylish clothes and works out a deal with the maker of a hot high school central tv show. The clothing label provides the wardrobe for many of the principal actors in the show. From there the actors are asked to mention the clothing label whenever it is brought up.

What this also does it create a situation where the viewers might not be aware of the clothes they are seeing on tv as belonging to that particular clothing line, but when they are in the store they will have developed an eye and appreciation for that style. This will almost always increase the sales. It’s not an incredibly common practice, but it is something that is growing as a real means of advertising in the fashion world.
